Nowadays there are available powerful drugs for cancer treatment, but the available procedures for administering these drugs affect the whole body. One possible solution to this problem might come from the hand of nanoparticles, facilitating direct action on the tumor.

Aurimune is a gold nanoparticle developed by the company CytImmune Sciences. An agent covers this nanoparticle to weaken the tumor. If this agent called tumor necrosis factor were injected directly into the body would cause massive organ failure. However, with the appropriate technique developed these nanoparticles can act directly on the tumor without affecting the rest of the body. The company believes that the agent can weaken blood vessels in the tumor, making the chemotherapy more effective.

The second phase of the tests in human with Aurimune will take place this summer.
