A spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute Material and Beam Technology (IWS) Dresden named AXO DRESDEN GmbH develops products for manufacturers of industrial X-ray instrumentation and analytical equipment used in the fields of analytical X-ray lithography, astronomy, spectroscopy and medicine.

AXO DRESDEN develops and applies techniques of high-precision deposition of different and complementary as magnetron and ion beam sputtering and pulse laser deposition to produce thin films and multilayers.
