Transparent conducting oxides should conduct electrical current and simultaneously be transparent to the frequencies of light emitted, in the case of organic light emitting OLED devices, or absorb sunlight in the case of organic photovoltaic’s.

Researchers from Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group at the Centro de Investigación en Nanociencia y Nanotecnología, CIN2 (ICN-CSIC) have shown that Nanowires can provide the solution to develop organic light emitting diodes and photovoltaic’s that submit optimize electrical conductivity and optical transparency in both the visible spectrum and near-infrared.

CIN2 is a combined centre of the Institut Catalá de Nanotecnología (ICN) and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
